How sellers package a file

Tape, media, title. Buyers bid a complete package, not a story.

How do you list debt for sale?

List debt for sale with a snapshot: asset class, face, vintage, account count, and spot vs forward flow. Triton runs a confidential bid to qualified buyers. A sale transfers title under a PSA; agency placement does not.

Connect with 200+ qualified, compliance-verified buyers. Competitive process, documentation support, and recovery-focused execution.

What “debt for sale” means here

On this desk, debt for sale means charged-off receivables a creditor or seller will transfer to an operating buyer. It is a sale of accounts, with a purchase agreement, a cut-off, and a funding date. It is not a placement where the agency works the paper and remits a commission. It is not a consumer offer to settle one account. People looking up a personal bill will not find a payment page.

Buyers price a percent of unpaid principal. They pay more attention to the charge-off window, the media, and the states than to a round face number with no backup. The factors are explained in the valuation guide. A file-specific read of one snapshot is a valuation review.

A listing buyers can price

This snapshot is enough to start. 6,100 auto deficiency accounts. .4 million deficiency balance. Charge-off, or the deficiency date, from June 2023 through August 2025. Deficiency letters on 64 percent of accounts. The sale contract on 81 percent. Nine states, named. Accounts already known as deceased, settled, or insurance-paid are pulled out before the face is quoted. Cut-off is the date of the extract.

A reviewer can place that file against the auto discussion range and tell you what else a buyer will ask. A file that says “auto, about ten million, various years, media on request” cannot. The media checklist is the list buyers mean by media. The columns they expect are the data tape.

A normal close, once the file is complete

Stretch What happens
First days Snapshot, questions, and a decision to show the file to buyers whose stated criteria fit.
NDA week Buyers who fit sign, then receive the working tape. Account rows do not go out in the clear.
Bid window Bids come back as percent of face, with conditions for missing media or excluded states.
3 to 14 days from a clean title Purchase agreement, cut-off true-up, wire, and boarding. The seller forwards the debtors. The seller does not keep servicing them.

The step-by-step for the seller’s own work is how to sell debt. To put a file in the queue, use submit a portfolio.

Questions sellers ask before they list

Will the accounts be posted on a public list?

No. The desk shows a snapshot to buyers it has already screened. The working tape moves under NDA.

Can the same paper be shown to five brokers this week?

You can, and buyers can tell. A file that is already in several processes gets wider bid spreads and slower closes. One desk, one cut-off, one contact is the cleaner path.

When does the 90-day warranty start?

After closing and funding. It lasts 90 days. The cut-off date is only the as-of date for balances and for paid-prior or deceased status.
